Prior to August 2009 I’d never driven or even sat in any type competition race kart, motorcycle or car and had no real “race” experience to speak of. That all changed when I met Steve Perdue and bought a kart from him. I can’t stress enough how much his help and support have meant to me and how much that has accelerated my learning curve.
Steve helped me get my kart set up to be competitive and is constantly keeping it in good running order (I’ve yet to have a DNF in 7+ races). On top of that, Steve’s drivers coaching has been invaluable! He’s helped me understand the proper driving techniques needed to drive a Shifter kart quickly and has leveraged video and data logging to help me see how I can improve my times by leveraging different techniques and driving lines.
Although I’m not setting any track records (YET!), in 8 months I've managed to secure 2nd place in the PGP Winter Series, have shaved ENORMOUS amounts off of my lap times and am now starting to perform more work on my kart in terms of maintenance and set up. At the moment I’m around 1-1.5 seconds off the race winning pace and am working hard to narrow that gap! None of this would have been possible without Steve.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Steve to anyone looking to get into karting or to improve upon their current set up. Steve’s endless enthusiasm, willingness to help, and passion for racing make him a joy to work with and an asset to any racer!
